Erin, John and Grady invited us to meet them at About Thyme Farm in Baileys Harbor for their portrait session on a PERFECT fall day in Door County. Photographing the two of them (and their pup, Grady!) always feels like catching up with friends, and we so enjoyed spending the afternoon with them!

DOOR COUNTY ENGAGEMENT | LILY & NICK

We've known this lovely bride-to-be, Lily, for years and have adored her since day one. She's as sweet and fun as they come, and after photographing her brother's wedding we immediately felt like she was our little sister too. :) Did we mention Lily's Mom was Butch's middle school teacher!? The connections are truly endless in Door County (one of the many things we love about it)!! 

Fast forward to last year when we noticed a certain handsome gentleman, Nick, appearing in photos more & more while Lily's joyful smile was getting brighter & brighter! Of course being the photo goofs that we are, we secretly crossed our fingers that when the time came, we might hear from her with exciting news... and we DID!!! :) 

Lily & Nick's Door County engagement session fell on a beautiful evening in Sister Bay. If we're telling the whole story, storms were looming as we drove over from Wausau but they cleared just in time for us to have a beautiful sunset and romantic evening light... two of our favorite ingredients for a gorgeous engagement session! We started at the most charming coffee shop, Drink Coffee, where Lily & Nick had a giant cookie made with their wedding date. We loved capturing these two on their charming patio in bustling of Sister Bay! Next we made our way to Garden Gables, a stunning wedding venue owned by Lily's brother & his wife. Were we ever lucky photographers to spend time with Lily & Nick around this stunning property (where we had been hoping to photograph for over a year)! Finally, it was only fitting that this picture perfect couple would have a gorgeous sunset over the bay to top off an amazing evening of smiling around the county. :)

Lily & Nick, you could probably tell by the huge smiles on our faces all night, but we are already counting the days until your wedding next September and couldn't be more thankful we'll be there to photograph every moment!!

WISCONSIN NEWBORN PHOTOS | THE KAGEN FAMILY

We recently had the absolute pleasure of visiting Zainab & Mike in Appleton, where we simply couldn't wait to meet their adorable little one, Gabe! In a room filled with windows and glowy light, Gabe let his parents love on him non-stop and was such a good little almost 8-week old for his very first photo shoot. :) He even gave us a few smiles in the form of the cutest grin imaginable! It's so amazing seeing Zainab & Mike as "Mom and Dad" just over a year after their beautiful wedding in Milwaukee. They seem to have fallen into their new roles seamlessly, and it made us so happy to see them as a family of three!!

GORGEOUS DOOR COUNTY ENGAGEMENT | KATIE & NICK!

The moment Katie & Nick first reached out to us about their wedding photography, we did a little happy dance, and knew that we simply had to be a part of their day!! You see, Katie joked that she and Nick were often referred to as the "old married couple" among their friends. And you know what that meant to us? That we weren't the only ones who were happy staying in and playing board games or watching a movie with (or without) friends/family! :)

Leading up to their session we bounced ideas back & forth, and decided that the Lakeshore was the absolute perfect spot to start their session. Katie was absolutely gorgeous with her classic berry colored dress and professionally styled hair/makeup (thank you Jessica!), and Nick was so handsome too! We were completely blown away by the romantic light surrounding the two of them and it made for such a dreamy setting!!

While we were home in Door County staying with Butch's parents the day before, we noticed how absolutely perfect their property would be for the second half of Katie & Nick's session!! If we're being completely honest, we had been longing to photograph a sweet couple in Butch's parents' purple field for years. Not even kidding – YEARS!! It just so happened that this was the opportunity to do so, and we were thrilled that Katie & Nick were up for heading over to meet the McCartneys and use their gorgeous property too!

Traveling is a huge shared interest between the two of them, so when Katie & Nick thought to include their passports & a giant map into their session we knew that nothing could be more fitting. Just days after Nick proposed they headed to Hawaii for a long visit (how amazing is that?!), and their travel brought such an element of fun to this session :) We cannot WAIT for Katie & Nick's October 2014 wedding in beautiful Door County!!
