A MOMENTARY AFTERNOON AWAY

Here at the McCartney household we've got all sorts of directions pulling this way and that. These changes are hugely exciting and can't come soon enough, but have been consuming our minds with excitement and worry (more on that later). Today we escaped reality for a moment, laughed and completely forgot about everything except each other :) A release much welcomed! What was the spark? Kelsy walked over to me early this afternoon, and with the kinda smile where she knows she's being adorable, asks me, "Do you want to take some pictures of me?!!" ... Well, now how can I resist ;)

Happy May Day to You!

PRINCE PARKER

Sometimes I really wonder what our lives were like pre-Parker. He is THE happiest little man we know, and he makes us smile non-stop :) We can't even walk down the street without making a new friend because Parker just loves everyone and cannot go on without a quick hello! We spent the early part of this week in MN for an in-home dog session, and on our way back we made a pit-stop in Stillwater in search of new crushed-velvet Victorian style chairs. We are SO psyched about what we came home with, and apparently Parker is too ;)

LOBSTERS ON THE PORCH

Yesterday we received the most awesome thank you "card" in the mail from our latest bride & groom, Ashley & Adam. When we pulled up to the house, Butch went to walk Parker, and Kelsy said out loud, "Hunny I think we got something fun in the mail! ... I think it's a lobster!" Butch continued to walk Parker assuming Kelsy was crazy... But when he got back into the house and they opened the styrofoam "time-sensitive-must-deliver-on-first-attempt-mr-UPS-man" package, and heard Kelsy SSSHHHHREEIK!!, he knew that she was right. We received two giant Lobsters in the mail. And they were ALIVE! From MAINE! Um. WOW! What happened over the next few hours will be engrained in our memory banks forever. The laughs we shared together were SO much fun! To think that the pictures we took on someone's wedding day moved them enough to express their gratitude with a LobsterGram absolutely fills us with joy. All we can say is Thank You, Ashley & Adam, for filling our townhome with so many smiles, screams, and moments of complete we-don't-have-any-idea-what-we're-doing FUN!!!! You completely made our weekend and we are so grateful! :D

JUST PLAIN THANKFUL

Amidst the craziness of our day-to-day life and constant efforts to grow both personally and in our business, it is easy to get so caught up that we don't slow down and recognize how amazing right now truly is. On a typical weekday morning we wake up around 7:30/8am, take Parker out, share a pot of coffee, respond to sweet client emails, prepare print orders, cull/edit our latest portrait session or wedding, design wedding albums, prepare + send out lovely packages to our clients, meet with newly engaged brides & grooms to-be, share images on our blog + social media, connect with our favorite wedding vendors, reach out to high school seniors, and of course sneak in a trip to Starbucks for our daily fix among all of these things... because, you know, that is a must in order to make our way through to-do lists. ;) But in between those check marks and exclamation points (yes, these lists are sprinkled with !!!), our days are also filled with some of my favorite moments: quality time spent with our puppy, smooches & tickle tortures with my hunny, non-stop smiling at the computer because I am so inspired by our clients and excited about the images we create together, listening to Butch sing along with every other song playing on Spotify, and watching over downtown Wausau from our new studio (which we have still yet to officially announce!).

The little things are not just highlights of any given day, but our favorite moments and the ones we are especially thankful for! This, in combination with our pure excitement for the incredible clients we have the honor of working with, is what inspires us and makes us want to create images that reflect couples in their natural state, energetic high school seniors, and wedding day moments that if uncaptured risk being lost forever. In both our personal lives and in our photography, this is what we shoot for -- unscripted out-takes filled with genuine emotion!

On that note, we wanted to take a trip down memory lane back to 2010 to share some of our favorite moments from Jody & Chris' University Club wedding in St Paul. We would love to hear what your favorite moments are... feel free to share :)

PLAYING IN THE SNOW

Earlier this month after photographing Sara's beautiful snowy maternity session, we couldn't help but freshen up a bit to take advantage of the afternoon! We might secretly be missing our monthly Us Portraits, but whatever the case we had fun laughing in the snow together over a roll of film... Parker even joined us!! And now that everything has melted away, we are already planning our next silly little "us" session :) Love | K&B
