Minneapolis Lifestyle Session | Laura, Todor & Cali

When our dear friends Laura & Todor found out they had an accepted offer on their home in NE Minneapolis and invited us over to capture them in the home they loved for so many years, in addition to being absolutely honored, we were also just plain excited to see them!!! Through photography, we have become great friends with these two, and trading photo sessions with each other is something we try to do regularly. However!!!! Laura Ivanova is a fellow film photographer who we have looked up to, admired, and ooooo'd & awe'd over since 2009 when we first met. Since, she has photographed us (here, here, here and here - to name just a few!) and we have photographed her & Todor (here, here and here). Needless to say, we consider Laura our lifetime photographer (she even photographed two of our family member's weddings!!) and we can't say enough about her awesome husband Todor & their adorable pup, Cali, too. :)

You know that feeling where you walk into a place - whether it is a friend's house or a local store you love - and you want to take home one of everything in sight?! That's the way we can best describe the feelings we had upon entering Laura & Todor's charmingly styled home. But what we found to be the best part - aside from the perfect decor they had as far as the eye could see - was that the things laced throughout their home all had special meaning behind them. Heirlooms from their family members, things they had collected on one of their many trips (check out Laura's travel photography!!), etc. And just like that, here we go rambling about how much we love this little family!! Door County Family Portraits | The Larsens!

This cute-as-can-be little lady just turned ONE!! To celebrate the occasion with photos, we had the absolute pleasure of meeting the Larsens in Door County. After photographing Kim & Stew's Door County wedding and milestones along the way with their two sweet girls, Maggie & Annie, we've grown to adore this family more and more, and always look forward to their portrait sessions (here, here and here). Like Butch, Kim & Stew both grew up in Door County, so as soon as Kim mentioned a Door County session we were completely on board! :) For us, the County is an oasis of relaxation, fun, family, and inspiration... not to mention it is one of our favorite places in the Midwest to photograph! When their session arrived, we were absolutely thrilled to have the most beautiful spring day for portraits on Kim & Stew's family's farm. Maggie was twirling in the most vibrant dress while Annie's non-stop smiles & giggles had us all beaming!! Creating images for this sweet family, our dear friends, in a location that holds so much meaning to their family was not only a blast, but an absolute honor. Thank you, Kim & Stew, for letting us photograph your adorable family! Love you guys!

Winter Portraits in WI | Laura, Todor & Cali

Goodness, have we ever been MIA on the blogging front these last few months! We have so many wonderful fall/winter sessions to share with you all, starting with this one with three of our favorites!! :) Laura & Todor are two of the kindest, funnest, and most awesome people to hang out with -- both with and without cameras! We like to think of Laura Ivanova as our personal photographer and have been very lucky to have her photograph the three of us on countless occasions, all of which we are beyond thankful for!! She has the ability to capture us (and all of her clients!!) like no one else, and has even photographed several of our family member's wedding celebrations. This time, we couldn't wait to get Laura, her husband Todor and their sweet pup Cali in front of our cameras!! Having gotten together with them for mini vacations in Door County, we were thrilled when they visited us in Wausau last winter! Of course, the day we decide to swap photo sessions it was approximately -20 with the wind chill, but we shared smiles, lots of laughs, and battled the crisp air in true Midwestern fashion. :) 

Giant hugs to the three of you and thank you so much for entrusting us to photograph your sweet family! Now, start house hunting in Wausau and let's plan our next DoorCo getaway! ;)

Winter Family Portraits | Tyler, Amanda & Carson

These three will forever be among our favorite faces to have in front of our cameras!! We've had the pleasure of photographing Tyler & Amanda before and, now that they have this adorable little one, we were thrilled to plan a session in Wisconsin's beautiful snowy Northwoods on our family's land. It was THE most perfect winter day: 35 degrees, full sun, and branches of pine trees were hanging on tight to brand new snow! Not to mention Carson was FULL of smiles and we had so much fun capturing them all!! We could have photographed his cuteness all day long and, if we're being honest, we already miss him! :) Seeing Tyler & Amanda go from boyfriend & girlfriend to fiancé & fiancée then husband & wife and, now, Mom & Dad, has been so wonderful and we couldn't adore their little Carson James more!

2015 PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY

Portrait sessions fill our hearts to the brim. Whether it’s photographing the anticipation of a soon-to-be Mom and Dad, the precious newness of brand new parents, a family of five with little ones running around, or a grown-up extended family who is simply happy to be all together in one place and wants the occasion documented, all of these sessions are centered around love. And capturing love in all of its forms is why we love what we do!! The little glances up at Mom and Dad, the tickle attacks and laughter, there is so much beauty in families and those connections are a giant source of inspiration for us as photographers. To all of the families and couples we had the privilege of photographing in 2015, thank you!! Thank you for inviting us in and feeling comfortable enough with us to be yourselves. We cannot wait to see what this year brings!!
