WE HAD OUR PICTURE TAKEN!

You might have noticed that our about us section, twitter, pinterest, instagram & facebook pages were splashed with new images of our faces within the last few months! There came a day where we looked at each other and realized we looked five years old in the images of us that we were using on our site (even though they were just two years old!). Kelsy had short hair and no glasses, Butch had an especially young face, and we both knew deep down that we currently have at least one or two more happy smile & laugh lines than those images showed ;) SO! Last fall we reached out to our photographer for life and awesome friend, Laura Ivanova, and planned a session to spruce up our look!! We first and foremost were excited to have our photo taken again, this time with Parker James included in the images! We cannot thank Laura enough for capturing us so beautifully in Northern Wisconsin :)

CHEERS TO YOU!

Lately we have been truly blown away by the couples we've had the honor of chatting with and photographing!! After the very first meeting or after their engagement session, we already feel so connected to and comfortable with them that we'd love to invite them over for a cup of coffee or glass of wine! So we thought we'd share our favorite "cheersing" space. Whether it's a morning french press or night in with a glass of cab, this is where we like to relax. You're more than welcome to join us anytime :) Consider this your open invitation! Love | K&B

DATE NIGHTS, ARTFUL IMAGES & TRAVEL!

As we shared a french press in our sun room this morning in our new favorite pottery mugs, we got to chatting a bit about our hopes and goals for the new year. We can only imagine how many other couples must have been having similar conversations over their morning coffee! :) What better way to  make things happen and come to life than to share them, vocalize them, and write them down? And so that's what we set out to do!! If 2012 was the year of change and clarity, we want 2013 to be the year of smart business and focused, artful images. Along with that, we hope to live the following this year:

  • Regular date nights! Scheduled, on the calendar, and not compromised (and spontaneousness is a must!)! Whether we stay in and try to cook, or head on out to our favorite restaurant, quality time with just the two of us :) We have a tendency to over-book ourselves with consults, shoots, double date nights, etc -- all of which we LOVE!! But, we want to make sure that we are creating and setting aside time for just the two of us amidst all of that! (Priority numero uno!)
  • Artful images! Capturing moments will always be a part of us, but we started to slow our pace while we shot in 2012, and that feels reeeaally good! Bringing our vision to life on beautiful film is such an amazing feeling. And when we present that to our clients, their reactions are priceless.
  • Travel! We went ALL over Wisconsin & Minnesota in 2012, and we LOVED it! ... But we want to go fuuurrrther! As in outside of the continental United States :) That's a little outside of our comfort zone, and that's definitely something we need to get out of more!
  • Our workflow: Steamlined! 2012 has been a year of change for us, in a very good way! Getting away from the computer is a big goal and we've been getting closer all the time! Shooting film has cut down our workflow in a huge way! It's only going to get better. We talk about it a lot, but it's important to us. We always loved photography, but switching our business model to an all film one has made us fall even Harder! We're just obsessed with what we're doing, unable to wipe the smiles on our faces, and want to share that with all of you!!

What are your hopes and goals for 2013? Maybe they're similar to ours! Whatever they are, we would love to hear them so that we can hold each other accountable and make them come to life!

Happy 2013 to you :D

THIS YEAR

When we sit down and think about where this year went, we don't have an immediate answer. It truly flew by faster than any other! Amidst the craziness of bouncing around the midwest to photograph weddings & engagements, we also had some pretty awesome milestones in our personal lives!! Parker James joined our little family on Valentine's Day and he has since been the source of 90% of our smiles! Not long after we became puppy parents, we decided that our little man needed a house! After years of searching for the perfect one, we purchased our first home at the very beginning of wedding season in May. Upon further review, this may not have been the most ideal time to move and make our new house a home, but we wouldn't have it any other way!! We tend to dive in head first and follow our hearts without looking back -- that is exactly how we decided to take our photography business full-time four years ago, and apparently how we make all major life decisions ;)

We also tend to pour our hearts into our photography. The connections we make with the remarkable couples who come our way make it especially easy to get wrapped up in the emotions of their day and be completely invested in them! This year brought so much clarity and change into the way we are photographing weddings, engagements and portraits alike. Falling in love with film all over again has revolutionized our hearts and our business, and for this we couldn't possibly be more grateful!! 2012 really was a giant leap for us, our business, and our little family of three. The relationships & friendships we've made this year alone make us feel absolutely blessed to do what we do, and we cannot even wait to see all of the goodness that 2013 has lined up!!!!

HAPPY CHRISTMAS!

Here we sit in our sun room office, Christmas mug coffee in hand, our holiday playlist cycling through on Spotify, and the distant sound of Parker squeaking a new lion toy from one of our sweet 2013 wedding couples' gifts (thanks for the added squeaks this holiday season, Jamie & Seth!). The sun is pouring in, our tree is lit, stockings hung, and we are just plain EXCITED! Isn't this the best time of the year?!! :) We're looking forward to driving our sleigh all around the state of Wisconsin to visit with as much family as possible and introduce Parker to his first Christmas, but must admit that we are also grateful to have today to finish our wrapping before the holiday kicks in ;) We'll be back with a little end-of-the-year post after filling our bellies & hearts with lots of holiday laughter & yummy treats, but first wanted to wish each of you a Wonderfully Merry Christmas!!!! We thought, what better way to do that than with our holiday card! :)
